The bobtail squid, what an incredible creature! They are only about as big as your thumb, but they can do some really cool stuff. The Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) teaches us that these squid have bioluminescent bacteria in their bodies which they use as camouflage to mimic the moonlight at night and to eliminate their own shadows. Not only that, they can actually control how brightly they glow because of special light organs inside of their mantles (blog.PADI.com)
